🚀 Fast Strong Automatic Respooler

After several successful respooler designs, I have finally completed this brand-new version featuring a fully automatic filament leveling system!

I went through countless user reviews and community feedback from my previous models, picked the best suggestions, and integrated them directly into this design to create the ultimate respooling experience.

🌟 Key Features & Improvements:

• 100% 3D Printed (No Hardware Needed): Requires zero external bearings, screws, or extra parts—just print and assemble!
• Fully Automatic Filament Leveling: Ensures clean, perfectly aligned layer-by-layer winding without any manual intervention.
• Spool Brake Screw: Added a custom tension/braking screw for the donor spool to prevent over-spinning or unwanted unraveling when you suddenly stop.
• Standard Hex Bit Drive: Replaced the custom drill pin with a standard 1/4″ Hex Socket. Now you can easily power it with a regular cordless drill, electric screwdriver, or use the included manual hand crank!
• Fast & Lightweight Print: Designed for quick turnaround—prints in under 12 hours using around 400g of filament.
• Robust & Compact: Engineered for durability while keeping the footprint minimal on your workbench.

🖨️ Recommended Print Settings:

• Material: PLA / PETG (PETG recommended for extra toughness on gears)
• Infill: 10% (Gyroid)
• Walls/Perimeters: 2-3 for strength
• Layer Height: 0.24 mm
• Supports: Minimal – dont change support type! Use default profile….

Assembly Instructions – Bill of Materials

Screw in the brake screw for the second spool.

Insert the small pin into the hole of the moving filament guide and secure it with PTFE tubing as shown in the picture.

Assemble the gears in this order:

Assemble the central filament holders as shown in the picture.

Slide the carriage all the way to the left and select the correct PTFE tube that aligns with the edge of the spool. In most cases, the middle one is the right choice, but some spools are narrower or wider…

Start winding the filament and verify that the second spool spins with slight resistance. That’s all 🙂
